Soft Magnetic Components
Powder metal parts are widely used for magnetic devices. The manufacturing process is critical in establishing the magnetic characteristics of soft magnetic components such as solenoids, solenoid switches, pole pieces, cores and relays.
These parts must be manufactured from ferromagnetic materials that are easily magnetized and de-magnetized. The type of material depends on the density of the part and the magnetic flux required for the application. The most common materials used are silicon iron, phosphorous iron, and high purity iron.
